Despite its common name, this is NOT the troublesome, invasive honeysuckle. This small mounded shrub is native to northeastern North America, found at forest edges and in understories. It is both graceful and tough. In a garden setting, it is great in shady beds, where it can create dense colonies. It can even tolerate dry shade under large trees. In mid-summer, small yellow flowers attract pollinators for several weeks. Its dark green foliage turns a variety of lovely fall colors, especially when growing in sun.
Pickup for woody plants in 2026 will be at the UW Arboretum the week of May 11, 2026.
